ALL RIGHT. THIS IS GIVING ME PERMISSION TO RANT.
I understand being upset with the boys. I understand not understanding the decisions they make. I understand being frustrated because hey, we’ve been waiting a long time for the album, we’ve been waiting a long time for a lot of stuff. But hey, guess what?
This band doesn’t even have to exist.
They don’t have to make music. They don’t have to meet fans. They don’t have to tour. They don’t have to sing. They don’t have to track drums and guitar and bass and vocals day after day. They don’t have to.
They want to.
This band isn’t here because they want money or they want this or that or the other. They aren’t in it for fame. They’re in it because they want to make music, make people happy, etc.
So guess what? They’re trying their absolute hardest to do that. That includes:
- Days in which they get more sleep on an airplane than they do in their hotel room.
- Days in which they get little to no sleep at all.
- Days in which they are sick, but play shows and shoot music videos and meet and greet us anyways.
- Days in which they have had bad days and don’t want to let us down, so they see us anyways.
- Days in which they tour for FREE.
- Days in which they miss their families, miss home, miss their friends, but they’re across the world doing what they love.
I could go on and on about that. So they’re trying their absolute hardest to please us. And you know what they get for it? Backlash. They get told they don’t know what they’re doing, that we (I say that very loosely) know better for them, that they’re making the wrong decisions, etc, etc. Just like Ashton said: “we are doing our best”.
They are literally trying so so so hard, and finally they’re going to snap. They see the hate on Twitter, they hear about it, they read it, etc. They see this stuff whether they choose to tell us they do or not. And it’s disgusting. Because these boys are working nonstop just to fulfill their dreams. And they’re trying to do it all for the fans as well. Let’s see.
THEY MADE THEIR OWN RECORD LABEL SO THEY COULD HAVE A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE FANS AND KEEP US HAPPY. THEY MADE HI OR HEY RECORDS (WHICH HEY — THE 5SOSFAM GOT TO PICK OUT THE NAME, RIGHT?) SO THEY WOULDN’T BE UNDERNEATH A STRICT LABEL AND COULD BASICALLY MAKE UP 90% OF THEIR OWN RULES.
Maybe Ashton got a little overly sassy, but who wouldn’t? When you’re trying your best at something and all you can see is the backlash for it, what would you do? Would you throw out rainbows and sunshine and glitter or would you get angry and want to punch a wall?
But this trend? #KeepCuttingAshtonYoureTrash ? That is the worst thing. That is going beyond telling them that they’re ugly or that they’re a horrible band and you hate their music. Let’s get something straight here, folks.
SELF-HARM IS NOTHING TO JOKE ABOUT.
You’re basically telling someone to end their life. Really? Because last time I checked, you can actually be arrested for that if someone does go suicidal and kills themselves. You can be tried with attempted murder or something. (Don’t quote me on that, tbh, I’m not 100% sure about it.) Is talking trash on Twitter really worth that? If you really don’t like him that much, just unfollow him on Twitter, block him, get away from the 5sos environment. But don’t go around telling someone to cut themselves. That is a big no no, in case you didn’t already know know.
And the worst of it all? You’re happy that he saw it. That is nothing to be proud of. It’s sick, twisted, and disgusting. And you should be ashamed of yourself. Just put a spin on it and act as if someone else was saying/doing these things to you..
How would you feel?
